Nigeria : Flogged for being Raped
It’s a compassionate world that we live in. A woman, who had been raped, avoided being stoned under local Sharia law. In Zamfara State, there was one of several cases where the woman was not sentenced to be stoned to death, she was sentenced to be flogged. She was flogged publicly 180 (times). It was supposed to be 100, but the man that she alleged had raped her said that another one raped her [instead]. She was charged -- and she (had added to her sentence) 80 whippings -- for Kazaf, the telling lies, (as if) she had told lies (about) the man who had raped her. See Links.
It is a little known fact, and it is certainly not advertised, that according to most Sharia law a woman’s word, even that of a highly respected and University educated woman, is worth that of an Infidel or a child, which is half that of an illiterate Muslim man. This is commonly accepted practice in most Muslim cultures. Of course, we all know that Muslim men can be trusted because they cannot lie; "unless they feel it is to benefit Islam." Then, lies are sanctioned. Naturally, if he were a pious man, it would benefit Islam that his action (rape) be denied because it would embarrass the faith.
Honor Killings
Honor Killings are a hush-hush subject throughout the Middle East and Muslim areas of Asia. Bangladesh is a leader with perhaps 80 reported a year. Reporting them as suicides or accidents covers up most. One report said there may be as many as three honor killings per day in Bangladesh.
A woman can be killed for a variety of reasons. Among them, refusing to marry the man her father has chosen for her. Of course, father gets a dowry for providing a virgin. It is customary to hand the bloody bed sheet on the outside cloths line the day after the wedding to prove that she was a virgin. If not, the wedding may be called off and dishonored, she might be killed. Naturally pre-marital sex with any man is out of the question. If caught, both her and her lover might risk being stoned to death.
But it need not be her sexual infidelity or promiscuity. If the father suspects she has done wrong, she might be killed. If not the father, the eldest family male member is responsibility for carrying out the sentence. Perhaps an uncle or older brother will perform the duty. In the non-fiction book, "Death of a Princess," we hear of the grandfather, who chased his granddaughter into a Saudi airport, fleeing for her life, where he shot her several times. The entire event occurred in front of witnesses and he got away with the murder.
In another case a woman was raped by one of her brothers. In this case there was no father available, so the oldest brother had to perform her execution by slitting her throat. He ran down the street waving the bloody knife to show that the family honor was reclaimed. The executioner went to jail for a couple months while the brother who raped her was simply sent away and he may be your Muslim neighbor today.
The United Nations finally passed a resolution, A/57/179. Working towards the elimination of crimes against women committed in the name of honour. Dated 30 January 2003, decades to late, it is available for download off the Internet. Unfortunately, it is one of those fine UN resolutions that allow those countries that disagree to not sign on with no risk of being expelled from the UN. There are a number within the General Assembly that simply ignores resolutions they dislike. Saddam among them.
A newspaper article, A Desperate Woman Is Denied Asylum, by Judy Mann, Washington Post, February 2, 2000. In the summer of 1991, a young Jordanian woman fell in love with a Palestinian engineer. In August, they had premarital sex. In September, the young man proposed, but the woman's father forbade the marriage because the man was Palestinian and did not make enough money. In a difficult position, and possibly pregnant, which would make her and her lover candidates for honor killings. They ran away together and she applied for asylum in the United States.
She was denied on the grounds that it was just a domestic problem. The American judge did not realize that honor killings go on all the time over there, and occasionally they come here. Most are covered up as suicides or accidents and it is not unique to Jordan. Even though she and her husband are in America, on appeal, the threat remains today, as they have dishonored her family and some family members are in America.
Honor Killings : Palestinian in Israel
In a case of infidelity in Israel, a Palestinian woman was given a choice with another way out. Her lover provided a suicide bomb belt and her husband drove her to the marketplace where she became a Martyr, killing others in the process. In this way both her honor and the Palestinian family honor was restored. This is not the only case of using dishonored women as Martyr’s. There is no report of punishment for the men.
In another story published in the Tulsa World, Sunday, July 1, 2007, "Wall of silence hides ‘honor killings’," An Arab woman, Hamda Abu Ghanem, is reported to be killed by her brother for speaking to a man in secret.
There are at least six countries in 2007 where the use of stoning to death is the official form of execution for various reasons. The forerunner of the lynch mob, there are several other countries that unofficially still tolerate its use, but don’t admit to the practice. Can you guess what religion these countries practice? I’ll give you a hint; they often use Sharia laws.
Human Trafficking
Muslim Middle East: Although the civilized world has long since given up the open practice of slavery, human servitude continues from the death/mining camps of Siberia to downtown Beijing, China. Nowhere on earth is it more prevalent than it is in the Muslim states of Asia and Africa. Although Saudi Arabia technically outlawed slavery in 1962 after a talk with John F. Kennedy, most of those slaves remain there in servitude today. Generations of slave ancestors are buried there, they have no other place to go, and they are not allowed to travel, even inside the country, without permission from their sponsors. They are not granted citizenship…
Although those placed in human bondage today may consist of largely factory workers and laborers, the sex trade is also a significant part of the problem as witnessed on a recent DATELINE program. In the Middle East it is rumored that Bahrain and Qutar are the places to visit for young Saudi Arabian men who what to have fun.

Internet research reveals there may be as many as 10,000 girls in the United States alone who suffer this procedure each year to be ruined for life. American doctors do not perform this illegal procedure. More often than not, unskilled hands perform it and that sometimes leads to unfortunate results like prolonged infections and even death.
Nothing is said of this procedure in the Qur’an even though it is accepted as common practice in certain cultures. History shows that this inhuman and brutal procedure predates Islam, was practiced in several places, and is probably borrowed from the Pagans. However, in a male dominated society it seems to have value.
The desert Arab interpretation of the word Jihad is "Holy War." Muhammad set the example, which they follow and respect. Please understand there are two different definitions and our reader should realize who are behind each definition.
Others of the early era and the more moderate of the Muslim following interpret the word as "utmost effort." They often try to align the term with the internal struggle in life that everyone endures. They associate it with the struggle with self, dealing with issues of right and wrong, good and the struggle against evil.
Most Muslims believe that both interpretations are valid within the Qur’an depending upon how it is used in the text. The Quran sometimes use’s archaic, old Aramaic derivatives of words or unused proper Arabic. Knowledge of the meanings of words is obscure by the variances--assuming the variances are from "context" meaning. However, It is said that one must read the text of the Qur’an in its original or ancient Arabic form literally to fully comprehend it.
Were it not for Jihad, this religion would probably never have left the deserts of Arabia. If it were not for the oil money, terrorism as we know it today would not exist. With money one has power.
Some say that Osama bin Laden is a Mufsidoon, as he does not follow the moderate / modern interpretation of the Muslim faith. It is said that he claims to be a follower of Sufism, although they may not claim him. The Sufi are Muslim groups that are at odds with Wahhabi sect of the Sunna Muslims.
But, wait a minute, it was mandated in the year 1033 A.D. that Muslims are to read the Qur’an literally. The responsibility for interpretation was taken away from the reader and it became the exclusive responsibility of the clerics to interpret the text. One is not supposed to read anything into the text that isn’t there.
It doesn’t matter that the Qur’an was put together by followers, subjects of the third Caliphate after the death of Muhammad, that Muhammad was illiterate, or that all previous attempts at constructing a Qur’an were to be destroyed. It doesn’t matter that cultures, definitions, pronunciations and the meaning of words have changed in 1,400 years. It is the true and perfect word of God and it is not to be questioned by man or woman. Read it literally.
If one has questions, that person is to take the questions to the clerics of the four schools of Muslim theocracy. The freedom of thought and personal judgement was removed a millennium ago. The contradictions that appear throughout the Qur’an are to be accepted as written.
The Mullah that Osama confides in, is an Egyptian member of the terrorist organization called the Muslim Brotherhood. Isn’t Osama doing, literally, what he is instructed to do in the Qur’an and by his Mullah, wage Jihad against the infidel and bring them into submission, if not willingly then by the sword as all the historical examples show? He is just following the example of the warrior prophet.
The fastest growing population of Muslims in America is among the blacks of the prison populations. The fastest growing populations of Muslims in the rest of the world are among the illiterate of Africa and Indonesia who may boil pages of the holy book to make tea when they have an upset stomach, in hopes that it will cure them.

President Bush and other American officials will one day face trial just like deposed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein for "the catastrophes they caused in Iraq," Iran's supreme leader said Friday.
Speaking to thousands of worshippers during the first Friday prayer of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that Bush will be called to account for the U.S.-led invasion.
"A day will come that the current U.S. president and officials will be tried in an international supreme court for the catastrophes they caused in Iraq," he said.

Muslim Brotherhood
On 9/9/2007 Rod Dreher’s column in the Dallas News was a fantastic read. Most newspapers avoid any hint of Islamophobia by saying nothing negative, even when it is true. They call it Political Correctness. In his well written article about a trial that is going on in Dallas he reveals some interesting facts about the Muslim Brotherhood that were revealed in court. We should see more of this.
